1. Do I need prior experience in the retail burger industry or running my own business?

Our franchisees come with a wide range of diverse backgrounds. And while experience managing a team and working in the food retail industry can certainly be advantageous it is not essential.

What is essential to become a UB Franchisee is:

  • A desire to take charge of your own business and succeed.
  • A willingness to work hard to achieve results.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and lead by example.
  • And of course, a love of great Burgers, Wraps and Salads!
 

2. Is there a standardised procedure that I am required to follow?

Yes, however the procedures are simple.

You will be provided with the Urban Burger Operations Manual and Urban Burger Training Manuals that will provide you with all the

3. What is my initial investment?

The estimated initial investment for an Urban Burger store ranges from $200,000 to $440,000 depending on the site and model of the store.

 

4. Why do you charge an initial franchise fee and a training and project management fee?

The initial franchise fee and project management fee are payable when entering Urban Burger. These fees are in consideration of the site selection and negotiating the lease, supervision of the complete design, construction and fit-out of the store, assistance prior to and after the store opening and the right to use Urban Burger’s intellectual property and systems.

 

5. What are the ongoing fees and what do they cover?

Franchise fees are paid on a weekly basis in the form of a Royalty and Marketing Fee based on your sales turnover. The Royalty is 7% and the Marketing Fee 3% of your weekly sales.

The Royalty contributes to the continual running and improvements of the Urban Burger brand and it also entitles you to continue to be part of the Urban Burger franchise. You will further benefit from:

  • Supplier section and volume buying pricing arrangements.
  • Research of new and varied products.
  • Ongoing training and management assistance.
  • Business advice.

 The Marketing Fee is pooled into the marketing fund for all the franchisees to maximise any possible marketing benefits. This fund is externally audited each year so you can see where and how we spend this money to grow your business and the brand.

 

6. What is the term of the franchise agreement?

The initial term of the franchise agreement is 5 years. With a one 5 year option to renew.

 

7. Is training provided by Urban Burger?

Of course! Urban Burger has an established training program like no other. We are partnered with Griffith University and Australia’s leading National Training Organisation, TMG to ensure you are full equipment with the right tools to run your own business.

The initial training period goes for a period of 4 weeks. Two weeks in one of our stores and in business training and two weeks in your store.

We don’t just leave you there, Urban Burger has a dedicated team to always assist you and support the growth of your business.

 

8. Do you have opportunities for multi-location development?

We want to see all our Franchisees achieve their goals and maximum potential that is why we encourage our franchisees to own more than one Urban Burger store and we provide support and advice to assist in the management of multi-locations.
